South Windsor Public Library

YA Volunteers

SWPL's Young Adult Department offers volunteering opportunities for 7-12th graders during the school year and summer break. Interested individuals must register and be trained by Mrs. Newbury before beginning work. Sign-ups for volunteering sessions are posted well in advance of the time period the volunteer shifts will cover. Sessions fill up, so register early!

Parental permission and a signature is necessary for all YA volunteers. Forms are available at the library for parents to sign prior to their child's first volunteer shift. A printable form can be filled out and returned in person or to dnewbury@libraryconnection.info.

Any questions regarding the Young Adult Volunteering Program can be directed to Mrs. Newbury at dnewbury@libraryconnection.info or 860-644-5404.

Summer Volunteer Program

registration is CLOSED

South Windsor Public Library can use volunteers in grades 7-12 during the summer to assist with crafts, the set-up and break-down of programs and the logging in of reading hours by our younger patrons during the Library's Summer Reading Program. Volunteers will be participating in their own age-appropriate reading program as part of their community service commitment.

Availability is limited to what the Library Staff can accommodate and supervise. In past years, this has been a total of 50 individuals. Registration for volunteer slots will be announced in advance and is typically opened in late May. The registration form will be available via the above link on this page until the program and a wait list are filled.

As with all of SWPL's YA volunteering opportunities, parental permission and a signature is necessary. Any questions regarding the Young Adult Volunteering Program can be directed to Mrs. Newbury at dnewbury@libraryconnection.info or 860-644-5404.
